With the pandemic long behind us, the joy of the Olympics will be back in Paris. And with Canadian athletes poised for a medal haul, it should be a winning recipe for CBC.
I think it's because of Tahiti's connection to France (it is part of French Polynesia, which is designated as an "overseas country" that is part of the French Republic), and these are supposed to be France's Olympics alone. Or at least I'm assuming that's how they originally put in their bid for the Games. Much as Portugal would be a heck of a lot more convenient for everyone involved.
I wonder why surfing is to be held in Tahiti? Portugal is in the same time zone and is a world class surfing destination.
